This Stone Grey 144 wheel base 4x4 will be going all the way back to Montana when we are done with the build. The first task at hand is to get it insulated.

The owner had already put a layer of foam on the floor but this would not be enough for the cold weather in Montana. We added sound deadening to all the walls and places that were not already done from the factory.

The sound deadening will make a big difference in the over all quality of sound when driving.

We added two MaxxFan 7500 deluxe fans for air flow. This client did not opt for a 12 volt Air Conditioning unit like most of our Texas builds.

The boys do a quick test of the height of the storage bags to ensure we pick the correct height for the platform bed.

We lay down a very thick layer of 3M Thinsulate insulation that will be under the floor that we cut. This van did not come with the stock floor.

We use 3/4” Baltic Birch to create a thick solid floor for the client.

We pre-drill the locations for our plus-nut inserts, primer/paint and insert the plus nuts. Next we can start running our Ancor PreTinned wiring. We loom the wiring so that when we pull it through the walls it does not get knicked. Looming takes extra hours and effort but it ensures we do not have a wiring issue in the life of the van electrical system.

Next we cover all of the surface you can see and you can not see with 3m Thinsulate insulation. This takes time to get in all the spots but well worth it when we know we can ensure a properly insulated van.

The client chose a folding bench seat that we will mount over one of our aluminum TIG welded frames. It arrives and we do a test fit of it mounted in the van.

The electrical system will be located under the bench seat base so we make a few changes on the welding table.

For this build we used light weight aluminum tubing and TIG welded up an elevated bed/sleeping platform. We then sent it off to be powder coated black. We use a pair of heavy duty bed mounting rails and install the bed.

After some different adjustments to the stain color we settle on the look the client wants and use Baltic Birch to create the slated wood portion to cover the frame.

We consistently use Victron electronics in all of our builds. The quality of their products and the support our distributor gives us is huge in our choice.

We start laying out the electronics under the bench seat.
