2021 144 WB Sprinter 4x4 Blue Grey

From time to time we get these kings of road awesome Sprinter 4x4s in for conversions. This van came to us from a client that bought from our local Mercedes of the Woodlands dealership and from our trusted Sprinter salesman Daniel Fitzek.

For this build we will utilize an aluminum bed platform, three drawer system and a small galley with slider fridge. We start with a basic concept for the modules.

This is actually the crew van version of the 4x4 Sprinter so it has a second row of seats. We pull those and store them away in storage for the client.

Next it is time to pull up the stock floor.

Even thought it is brand new we clean and prep the surface.

The floor gets covered with Killmat sound deadening.

Next Raul starts laying down the minicell strips.

The next step is the 3M TAI insulation to cover the minicell.

Last is the addition of 3 sheets of minicell laid across the 3M TAI for we put the stock floor back on.

Lets get that stock sprinter van floor back on.

One thing that is a bit underpowered on a Sprinter is the low toned horn. Nothing like honking in a traffic situation only to be mistaken for a Vespa scooter. We can fix that with the Agile Offroad Horn Upgrade – VS30 Sprinter (2019+)

Lets get that front grille off.

The kit has two different Hella horns ready to just plug into the existing harness.

Easily installed and well worth the $99 price.

Put the grill back on.

You would never know this horn is ready to perform on the level that the van should have had to begin with.

Put that welding table to use and lets get the welding started.

Test fitting the passenger side module that will house the electrical system.

At first we thought about putting a toilet on a slider but have since changed the module to a three drawer slider.

Next up we work on the galley/drivers side module.

This build will have a maxxfan7500k up front and a Dometic RTX2000 12v Air conditioning unit in back. We prep both spots. Cut, prime and prime again.

We really like using the adapters from DIYVAN.com that follow the ribs on the top of the van for a great fit and seal.

Ok lets get some Rigid Scene lights added! These amber lights will make for a great addition around the clients camp area.

Our client opted to add a Weboost cell phone booster, VHF antenna and CB Antenna. More to come one these.

If you have ever spent any time working on a sprinter that has the DC/DC charger you will understand this picture. We go to great lengths to make our installs the best they can be which includes always trying to find better and better ways to route things in and under the van. Luke's time this day was well worth getting dirty.

By now we have templates that help us with exact location of the bunk windows but we always have two guys checking each others work.

Time to cut!

Time to prime and prime again then we will add the bunk windows in.

Next up we cut the rear wall panels and notch for the stock headliner.

The baltic burch panels will be covered in a 1/4" thick padding and a micro fiber that the client has chosen.

Time to add the front white squadron and amber squadron Baja Design driving lights.

Next up the guys work on getting the Fiamma F80s awning installed.

We can now bolt on the the two Renogy 100 watt solar panels.

After our welder builds the frame the galley/water module for the drivers side of the van starts coming together.

Preliminary layout of the clients Victron components is done.

We overkill on the way we do wiring but love it.
